Here’s Some Sage Advice
Date: August 29, 2008 | Category: Lifestyle, Travel & Leisure

If you’ve never been to or even heard of - as I hadn’t - Cornerstone Place, take heed! This is not your average spot - at once evident by a twisting white picket fence that resembles a roller coaster. You will be, if not impressed, at least intrigued by the series of walk-through gardens that showcase innovative designs (some might say avant garde) from the world’s finest landscape architects and designers, the first gallery-style garden exhibit in the United States. Raw Beauty
Date: August 28, 2008 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Skin Care
In the Raw has been stirring up some office excitement. We’ve been sampling dollops of In the Raw’s sweet creams and sniffing ourselves silly since the postman graced us with their gorgeous presence. And lest you think boys are immune to the lure, we had to hide the lemongrass/sage moisturizer from Omar before having to stage an intervention. Another ecofab fave is the creamsicle lotion, which smelled so yummy we found ourselves searching for the chimes of the Good Humor truck. In the Raw also brews up intoxicating bubble-baths, soy candles and sugar scrubs in a tasting menu of luscious organic flavors, including ginger/lime, coco-mango and green tea. But In the Raw is not just another pretty face, they are firmly committed to abstaining from animal testing and donate a portion of profits to local and global charities, so slather it on guilt-free.

Paradise Is a Muumuu
Date: August 28, 2008 | Category: Home Furnishings, The Home
If a Hawaiian vacation simply isn’t in the cards, the design enthusiasts over at Plenty magazine recommend these Aloha pillows made from repurposed muumuus. And though we’re not sure the tropical vibe these accents bring to your decor will lessen the sting of a foregone trip to the islands, we do love the look and feel. Of course, the usage of recycled materials, from the fabric and piping, to the ruffles, lace and buttons, makes us want to say aloha to a bunch of them, but we will limit ourselves to only what we need. Handmade in Hawaii at Muumuu Heaven, we may not be donning the aforementioned article of clothing anytime soon (or ever)… but our couches sure can.

Charlie Is So Helpful Around the House
Date: August 28, 2008 | Category: Featured, Kitchen, The Home

Conventional household cleaners often contain chemicals (surfactants) which don’t easily biodegrade in sewage treatment plants (thus contaminating our waterways) and have been identified by the EPA as endocrine disrupters (hormone trickers). Not the All-Purpose Cleaner from Charlie’s Soap company, which quite frankly is one of the best cleaning agents we’ve ever used. (more…)

If a few mouse clicks were all it took to contribute to efforts aimed at eradicating human trafficking and that just happened to benefit the environment, would you seize the opportunity to do such good? Well, said chance is upon you. The Members Project from American Express intends to grant $2.5 million dollars to the top-voted orgs among the 1,190 who have entered.
The ecofab nomination is the joint venture between Architecture for Humanity and Lulan Artisans, so that they might develop off-the-grid weaving cooperatives as an alternative to the sex trade in South Asia. And in doing so, producing beautiful, sustainable textiles. They’re 80 votes shy from making the top 25. By simply casting your vote, you will help launch this beautiful initiative into action. There are lots of excellent options, so cast a vote to create a better collective conscience. Click here to get to it!
