If you’ve ever been to ABC Home in New York, you know that that it is difficult to leave. From antique day beds and ethnic accessories to twentieth century modern chairs and forward-thinking organic cotton towels, there is something for every style lover. Additionally, you might have noticed the culture/mission tags that codify 14 ecological attributes, attached to the furniture and accessories. Though it has long been one of the driving forces at ABC, eco-friendly products and practices are slowly supplanting the less mindful hold-outs. They have even launched a beautiful line of aromatic domestic cleaning products. In fact, ABC is one of the best places for one-stop eco-shopping. And for a limited time only (until March 14th) ABC celebrates India’s unique beauty and contribution to our culture. With a mix of design, art, home furnishings, chefs, artisans and visionaries, Gateway to India focuses on “preserving the spiritual, philosophical and artistic DNA of an indigenous culture”. A speaker series connects all of these dots. Call or stop in to find out when the topic of your choice is being covered, from Ayurveda, healing, meditation, yoga, design, global climate change, feminism, mythology, the arts and film. House and Garden Magazine’s February issue had an inspiring article about ABC’s CEO and Artistic Director Paulette Cole. If you missed it, you might want to see if you or a friend still has it – a back issue worth ordering.

Thanks for sharing! Just from the photo, this looks like a soothing and refreshing place to shop, not to mention that “no element of the environment was harmed in the making of these furnishings.”
