REN and Skincare
We first became aware of REN after catching sight of their simple cylindrical packaging—clean, attractive, and scientific in a way that said “seriously potent,” not “cold and clinical.” Unlike other beauty lines capitalizing on a “natural” or “organic” sub-moniker, this was a line concerned with both style and substance, meaning no questionable herbal scent or unsightly slapped-together label.
REN can compete with the La Mers and La Prairies of the world, only it has an ethical, five-tiered set of principals going for it, too: the Right Ingredients, free of synthetics, petrochemicals and parabens; Right Science; Right Product Experience; Right Environmental Impact, including a waste-minimizing philosophy; and Right Attitude. Add to that a No Animal Testing policy and 100 percent recyclable containers and you have the makings of a company ecofabulous was destined to fall in love with.
The entire line is something to admire, but our current favorites are products which target aging. The Sirtuin Phytohormone Replenishing Cream (try saying that five times fast) gets its luster-restoring qualities from, of all things, Wild Yam, while REN’s unique Global Protection Complex gives your skin the dose of anti-oxidants it needs to stay pliant and refreshed.
In this age of saving and simplifying, we’re big fans of the home facial, which REN’s Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask is great for. Just leave it on for 10 minutes, during which time its fruit acids (lactic, glycolic, tartaric and citric) work with one another to exfoliate dead cells. Again, totally refreshing, totally rejuvenating, totally REN.
