Cereplast to Unveil Design for New Bioplastic Symbol
Cereplast, the leading manufacturer of proprietary bio-based, compostable, and sustainable plastics, will award $25,000 to the creator of the new bioplastics symbol in LA, this coming Earth Day Eve (above are the top three finalists). The distinct design will be the new mark to differentiate bioplastics, the organic compostable plastic, from the age-old polymer blends which are sorted according to there resin identification codes.
The final three designs have been carefully chosen out of over 1500 design submissions to the “Make your Mark” competition by millions of public votes and a panel of renowned judges from the design and bioplastic industries, including Dr. Gary Anderson, the creator of the globally recognized “recycling symbol” chosen 41 years ago.
The event will take place this Thursday, April 21st at the Herman Miller Showroom in LA, and ecofabulous’ own Zem Joaquin will be a guest speaker for the groundbreaking event. If you are in the LA area and are interested in attending, email [email protected] to RSVP, or if celebrating from afar, post your comments on the top three designs by clicking on the designer’s name below.
