Winner Revealed for Cereplast’s “Make your Mark” Contest
1500 design submissions, narrowed down to 200, 3 finalists and now 1. We have a winner and a symbol that will be seen stamped on products for many years to come as the identity for bioplastics, the environmentally friendly alternative to petroleum-based plastics (made from renewable resources such as potatoes, corn and wheat). These biodegradable and compostable plastics provide consumers and manufacturers a revolutionary option to help safeguard the environment and support a sustainable future.
Cereplast, a leading manufacturer of bioplastics, announced the winner of the “Make your Mark” competition last night, April 21st, at the LEED certified Herman Miller Showroom in Los Angeles to design student, Laura Howard, who received a $25,000 award for her winning design.
The idea behind the “Make your Mark” contest circled back from a similar competition over 40 years ago when Dr. Gary Anderson, who became one of the renowned judges for yesterday’s event, created the globally recognized “recycling symbol” we all know and love today. Keep your eyes peeled for the new, sleek, green design categorizing the future of plastic products.
