Urban Sanitation Cleans Up Its Act
Sustainable sanitation in urban areas sounds pretty good (and important) to us, and our team was thrilled to hear that Sanergy finished first in the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition recently for its eco idea. The low-cost sanitation centers are the brainchild of two business school students and collect waste before processing it into electricity and fertilizer. The idea is cleaner and safer than current Kenyan pit latrines and sewers and, if it scales, could help create jobs ’round the world.
