But for that bit of extra skin nourishment, we’re turning to Liz Earle’s Naturally Active Skincare line, specifically the Superskin Concentrate. (more…)

The Nature of Beauty

Here’s the truth about beauty: as glowing as our morals, character and values may be, a girl will always love her products – who can blame her for adoring that perfect red lipstick?
But for an ecofabulous devotee, it can be hard to sort through all the lines claiming to be “all-natural” and “eco-friendly,” only to find out that the product still contains a host of harmful chemicals, usually bearing unpronounceable names.
Earlier this year, The Nature of Beauty launched with the goal of becoming the premier source of natural and organic beauty, body and hair care in America. The Nature of Beauty has emerged as a sweet solution for concerned eco-cosmetic devotees everywhere. With a comprehensive inventory of eco-products – including those for the ladies as well as for the eco-man and mom & baby – The Nature of Beauty is the Sephora for eco-conscious consumers. (more…)

Extra: Brad Pitt is Showering with Kiehl’s and Angelina is Happy About It!
Date: November 17, 2008 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Skin Care
In partnership with Pitt, Kiehl’s just introduced its first Cradle to Cradle Certified product. The delicately scented liquid body cleanser, is formulated without parabens, SLS or dyes and is packaged in a 100 percent post consumer recycled bottle.
All proceeds from the Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser will support the work of JPF Eco Systems, a charitable organization created by Kiehl’s and Brad Pitt with the goal of maximizing awareness of environmental sustainability.
Think of it as six degrees of separation in the shower. You use the Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser… Brad Pit uses it too…When it comes down to it, you may as well be showering together. The natural fragrance is so light that men and women can share it. Plus, it would save water after all.
Saved by the Balm
Date: November 10, 2008 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Makeup, Skin Care
With winter on its way (or already here, depending on where you live) the ecofabulous office has been bombarded by a bevy of lip balms. One of our new favorites is from Save Your World.
Our complaint with many lip balms is that they are either waxy or greasy, neither of which feels good on your pucker. Save Your Lips lip balm is moisturizing but non-greasy and made with naturally healing ingredients, like organic aloe and coconut oil, while organic Yerba Maté adds a tiny bit of tingle. And in flavors like Green Tea, Grapefruit Mango and Pure (unflavored) there is something that will make everyone was to lick their lips.
Plus, the products are paraben-free, pH balanced, vegan, not testing on animals and packaged in recyclable packaging. And in addition, for every product you buy the company vows to donate enough to save one acre of rainforest.
Naturally Hugo
Date: November 3, 2008 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Hair Care
If your resistance to all-natural bath and beauty products originated with your high school guitar teacher, whose rhythmic strumming was all but obliterated by the cloud of Patchouli around him, you can (finally) take a deep breath.
More spa line than hippy potions, Hugo Naturals will set you straight about the state of natural bath options. The line of vegan, cruelty-free hair care products, soaps, lotions, scrubs and creams feels rich and indulgent, so much so that you won’t notice the missing parabens, alcohols, petroleum products, artificial colors or artificial fragrances. And the packaging, which can be recycled, is beautiful enough to make an impressive gift.
Deliciously scented with essential oils and plant essences, the smell wafting from your shower will recall visits to high-end spas, not poorly plucked attempts at “Scarborough Fair.”
Defend Your Dermis

Planet Botanicals’ Organic East African Face Balm with shea butter is the perfect salve for skin during the damaging cold weather months ahead. Thick and creamy, without being greasy, a small amount goes a long way towards moisturizing delicate facial skin and making it soft like butter.
And, as the balm dives deep into your epidermis, it leaves a light earthy scent behind. (The product is also available in an unscented version for those of you with scent-sensitivities.) (more…)
To Donate, Just Add Hot Water
Date: October 10, 2008 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Skin Care
Can you cure cancer by taking a long soak in the tub? Not exactly, but all this month when you buy EO’s Rose & Chamomile bubble bath or shower gel the company will donate a portion of the proceeds to breast cancer research.
Both products are made with pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and the company’s trademark Coconut Oil Cleansing Complex - a gentle formula that creates frothy foam but contains no irritating sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and EO has pledged 15 percent of its proceeds from these very pink products to the Breast Cancer Fund.
So don’t be a boob. Light a candle, fill the tub (to the 1/2 way point, ideally) and close your eyes. You’ll be doing your part in a very relaxing way.
Burt Will Rub You the Right Way
Date: October 6, 2008 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Skin Care
With colder weather comes dry skin, and with dry skin comes the need for lots of moisturizer. As fall approaches we make sure to have a tube or jar of hand cream on our desks, next to our beds and in every handbag… and that is a lot of lotion.
Heather has Burt’s Bees Shea Butter Hand Repair Crème in at least half of those locations. Made with shea and cocoa butter and a slew of natural oils, like rose and lavender, the cream boasts 98 percent natural ingredients, and none of the dirty dozen. Plus, the products are never tested on animals.
The thick lotion keeps the delicate epidermis on the backs of hands moist, which will ultimately keep them younger looking. Plus chaffed skin just isn’t sexy…or comfy!
