‘Tis the season for giving in many forms – gifts, thanks, and assistance to the less fortunate whenever possible. It’s also the season for champagne soirees as displayed at last week’s “Gifts Giving Back” event to benefit Toys for Tots in Los Angeles, put on by our friends at Coco Eco Magazine, Love Heals jewelry, Fred Segal Santa Monica, and Greenbees, among other ethical vendors.
The spirit of glitter and glam – inspired in part by celebrity chair Rachael Leigh Cook (pictured above with Rachel Avalon, winner of the Project Green Model Search) and the participation of ecofabulous-favorite, Linda Loudermilk – was alive and well. Many a stylish green shopper showed up with a donation for Toys for Tots, and took the opportunity to peruse some of Fred Segal’s many green gift options. While artists from Tarte Cosmetics gave mini makeovers and organic burgers from O! circulated the crowd, guests learned more about co-chair Love Heals’ ambitious, charitable mission. (more…)

Acquarella is free of not only the big bad guys (formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP) but also phthalates or chemical solvents of any kind. Completely water-based, non-flammable and free of toxic fumes, Acquarella Nail Polish hydrates the nail, helping to prevent nails from chipping, peeling and yellowing commonly associated with harsh conventional nail products. Women’s ta-tas are all the talk these days. October is national breast cancer awareness month, and by now you’re probably more than inundated with pink ribbon products that donate a portion of proceeds to breast cancer research or help fund mammograms. The ironic (and unfortunate) thing about many of these products is that they often contain chemicals that are not only harmful to the environment, but have been linked to cancer. (more…)
No More Waiting Online for Green Beauty
Date: October 16, 2009 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Fragrance, Hair Care, Makeup, Skin Care
Green beauty counters are few and far between, even at prominent department stores. Because we choose to eschew lead in our lipstick, we make a point of seeking out product lines that are guilt-free, cruelty-free, and that will gloss, highlight, and blush us just as well as their non-natural counterparts. Ordering online is quick and easy, but why should us eco girls be excluded from the fun of testing and blending different colors in person? (more…)
