ecofabulous: What makes you feel ecofabulous?

Gina Pell: I feel ecofabulous when donning chic, one-of-a-kind vintage clothing and accessories. I am often literally stopped on the street by strangers dying to find out where I’ve tracked down one of my antique necklaces from the ‘20s, or mid-century cat eye spectacles. There’s a thrill in knowing that I’ve scored a completely unique piece and that I’m staying true to an eco-centric fashion ethos.

ecofabulous: At ecofabulous, we often talk about the value (for your pocketbook and the planet) of buying pre-owned and vintage. Is there anything you’re shopping for that’s pre-owned lately?

Gina Pell: Vintage YSL from the ‘70s and vintage Oleg Cassini. They were masters of their craft and their aesthetic is still incredibly relevant today. Gold filigree jewelry — oversized bangles, especially — and vintage Hermes scarves are also staples on my eBay Watch list. Occasionally I’ll unearth a great piece of retro, Knoll-style furniture. I love updating my home with the odd mid-century modern addition.

1. Coclico Chispa Tiger Sandal

Au courant but not overly trendy, these platform sandals evoke what I love about ’70s style. I could easily see these paired with a contrasting, color blocked maxi skirt.

2. Tamasyn Gambell Electric Square Scarf

Anyone that’s a fan of collecting Hermes silk scarves should take note of designer Tamasyn Gambell. Herrecycled scarves are incredibly modern, but made of reclaimed accessories whose prints she updates with a unique printing process.

3. Noon Solar Linden Tote

Made of chemical-free leather and antique brass hardware, this naturally dyed tote features a kaleidoscopic print that’s mesmerizing.

4. Katherine Hamnett Eco-Friendly Swimsuit

I love the retro look of this halter-style bikini by Katherine Hamnett. The balconette bra is incredibly flattering, its organic cotton fabrication soothing against the skin.

5. Amour Vert Bouquet Ikat Dress

Missoni-esque minus the Missoni price tag, this ikat print dress epitomizes the phrase “effortlessly chic.”

6. Livia Firth Recycled Brass Necklace

Backless gowns will look even sexier when you drape this Livia Firth chain down your back. It cascades across curves and turns an otherwise simple ensemble into something phenomenal.

7. Earth Conscious Optics

I’m a big fan of vintage sunglass and eyeglass frames, but the next best thing to finding a one-of-a-kind pair from yesteryear are the pieces by Earth Conscious Optics. They’re made of recycled materials and are often shaped like the classic, Jackie-O-esque style that’s near universally flattering.

8. Vintage Crochet Caftan

This swimsuit cover up screams ’70s Malibu to me. I could easily see it being worn at a poolside barbecue or on a quiet, secluded beachside.

9. Zoe Organic Maxi Dress

Tie dye goes modern with this maxi dress by Gypsy 05. I love the unabashedly bright color combination and the fact that it’s made of forgiving, stretchable organic cotton.

10. Alkemie Hummingbird Cuff

I never leave home without at least one piece of jewelry on, and if the jewelry happens to be eco-friendly, even better! This beautiful cuff from Alkemie is the kind of piece I’d wear everywhere: with jeans and a t-shirt, a pretty summer dress, or as a stunning wrist adornment with a black cashmere sweater in the fall.
