Kitchen Confidential:

Change is at Hand

The concept of “disposable” items is one that we try to regularly offer alternatives to here at ecofabulous. As we all know very well by now, there is no “away” and the fact that as consumers, we continue to offer a demand for one-time use goods, is something that we need to take responsibility for - change the demand (give them no demand!) and the market will shift accordingly. That’s why we were so excited to meet with the founders of PeopleTowels at this year’s Opportunity Green conference, to get a first glance at the new stylish, reusable towels.

Made of 100% organic, fair trade cotton, silk screened with eco-friendly dyes, PeopleTowels come in a variety of modern graphic styles. Stock up in the kitchen and bathroom, and purchase a few for kids’ lunches - a convenient handtag even allows for easy clipping or looping onto bags and purses. This small yet actionable change truly has a big impact: Every day, over 3,000 tons of paper towel waste is produced in the U.S. alone! By switching to PeopleTowels for 1 year, you personally save 1/4 of a tree, reduce landfill waste by 23 lbs. and conserve 250 gallons of water - now, how’s that for bountiful benefits?

Cool! I love their designs. Microfiber cleaning cloths are another good option.

Wow! That is really neat! This posting caught my eye with “Made of 100% organic, fair trade cotton, silk screened with eco-friendly dyes” I try to buy a lot of my daughter’s items in the same manner. She wears a lot of tees from a company called Tiny Revolutionary (www.tinyrevolutionary.com) they also use organic and toxin free dyes. I’m going to check this site out right now! Thank you for the tip!
