Project Green Dorm: Too Cool For School

From the motivating and inspiring teens that brought us Project Green Prom comes the next incredible endeavor on their list - greening dorm rooms across America. The Project Green Dorm initiative is a multi-faceted effort to encourage teens around the country to make eco informed purchases as they head off to higher learning. The initiative has three separate elements to help educate the community (while still keeping college-bound kids looking cool for school).

The first, a web based toolkit, serves as a comprehensive resource guide for everything you’ll need to outfit your new space - from bedroom basics to bath + body, to tips on how to green your study time. The second initiative is a retail store in Marin County, California, complete with an eco-friendly dorm room vignette filled with sustainable lifestyle essentials like backpacks, computer bags, organic linens, and of course - a completely green closet! Lastly, the teens have put together some amazing College Care Packages filled with a fabulous assortment of eco products, sold through the TTG website and in the Marin store. The basic kit retails for $50 (with goodies valued at $152) and the premium kit sells for $100 (with goodies valued at $386!). We’re tempted to order one for ourselves, but with a limited number of kits we figured we’d better keep them available to the more than 17 million college students nationwide… just think about the difference that many environmentally-conscious, passionate students can make!

I love this. Perfect time to educate young adults when for alot of them college is the first time they will be buying their own products. What a fabulous idea!
