A Frame That’s Worth a Thousand Words
Date: September 26, 2008 | Category: Home Furnishings, The Home
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words but what does that picture’s frame say about the choices you are making?
From now on, photos of the best days of your life can be preserved and presented using the best framing practices. San Francisco-based Eco-Framing is the first custom picture-framing studio dedicated to green best practices. It creates frames made only from sustainable woods or 100 percent bamboo molding, built using museum-grade craftsmanship. As a bonus, Eco-Framing claims that they are able to reduce prices by up to 60 percent off retail because of their cost-effective purchasing and design practices, which reduce the cost of transporting materials to the shop.
In addition, the company is taking recycling to a new level: All reusable materials in the studio are converted into products; if they are unusable they are recycled, or given away on Craigslist, and the trash cans are only used as a last resort. The production studio also uses energy efficient lighting to further eco-fy the entire process.
So while others are admiring your fine taste in art or your family’s recent portrait, you can be admiring the beauty of the frames holding those treasures and the little bit of good you have done by purchasing them, instead of their alternative.
