You know you’re an eco geek when you see Trashy, the new 3-in-1 waste receptacle by Metrik Studio, and want it more than conflict free gems or a Linda Loudermilk dress. Trashy, which can double as counter space on wheels, has a slideable lid that opens to reveal removable compartments for composting and recycleable materials and a side drawer for real trash. Making the maximum use of its shape and keeping those of us who live in apartments or have small kitchens in mind, Trashy was designed with a drawer for storing bags and a compartment for separating batteries or other hazardous waste. Self-contained, sleek, and made from a formaldehyde-free, 100% post-industrial recycled medium density fiberboard, Trashy can be customized to include a removable butcher block top or a blackboard front for messages (May we suggest, “Honey, it’s time to take the recycling out?”).
