I adore entertaining but have found it tough to find linens worthy of the food that I will be serving! Thankfully Fiberactive Organics has added 100% organic cotton napkins and tablecloths to their odd mix of quilts and pantographs, huh? Fiberactive Organics uses low-impact fiber reactive dyes and partners with Harmony Art, an organic textiles company with a commitment to fair-trade manufacturing, to include floral and other nature-inspired patterns as well as solids in an array of shades. With triple bottom line threads throughout the company, many of Fiberactive’s employees are former Vietnamese refugees, for whom Fiberactive arranges English lessons, provides on-the-job training, and allows workers to complete their jobs at home (and to work on an as-needed basis) so that they can be with their families. Fiberactive Organics may be a feel-good family affair (the designer’s husband hand-dyes the fabrics and their son operates the website), but I’m just happy to find an eco-place to lay my plate!
