Know Your Roots

Got big plans for Arbor Day on Friday? According to a survey from Timberland, only 12% of Americans are celebrating the day dedicated to planting trees — even though nearly all the respondents think trees are important.

If tree-planting isn’t on your to-do list tomorrow, you can still make a difference. Head over to the Hortiscope quiz on Facebook, where you can discover your “tree personality” and, in turn, plant a tree in Haiti. Planting trees is an important part of Timberland’s commitment to protecting the outdoors; to date, the company has planted more than 3.5 million trees globally. And that number includes 1.4 million in Haiti, where less than 2% of the country’s original forests remain due to a history of unsustainable land-use practices and a continuing dependence on tree wood and charcoal for cooking and heating needs.

Help plant an additional 100,000 trees in Haiti — take the quiz now. And be sure to let us know which tree you’ve turned out to be. (For the record, we’re a Lisina!)
