Jump for Joy

Finding jewelry for everyday use can be tricky - pieces are either too simple, or too over-the-top glamorous for the office. And cheap, trendy jewelry is not only designed for a one-season-use shelf life, but is often made of toxic plastic (PVC) and other environmentally hazardous materials. Needless to say, we literally jumped for joy upon discovering Joy O Designs effortlessly chic, handmade jewelry.

Her jewelry-making passion initially sparked in a high school Geology class, Joy continues to respect and revere the environment in all that she does - using recycled silver and recycled 14k gold fill, along with raw, naturally found, and chemically-free stones.

The necklaces, earrings and bracelets have an elegant simplicity to them, yet the hammered texture and interesting lines give the pieces that “statement” quality. It’s easy to see how she weaves architecture into the collection: ”Modern architecture is all about minimalism, details and the transition point where materials meet. That’s what my work is about too, on a small and intimate physical scale.”

But the part that truly had us jumping was the price tag! For the materials used, the entire line is surprisingly affordable. Our favorite rose gold fill trapeze hammered handmade hoops are only $68, and the polished gold fill simple thin cuff (as worn by Anne hathaway and Cameron Diaz!) is only $64. It’s a collection that a girl can grow with - the thin cuffs are great for stacking and therefore make perfect birthday and anniversary presents! Or mix and match with your favorite Jennifer Dawes bracelets.
