A Black Heart Is A Good Thing…

…when it’s made from locally and cooperatively-mined soapstone and attached to a recycled brass chain.

Produced in Made’s Nairobi workshop in an effort to break the poverty cycle in Africa, this boldly stunning choker with suspended pendant is designed by Livia Firth. Mrs. Firth has collaborated with Made for a second time and, in addition to offering the heart necklace ($125/ £55) through her UK-based site Eco Age, made her piece available to the sustainably-minded stateside at Lost and Found (a fab boutique in Hollywood, CA).

Intended to wrap around the neck and cascade down the spine (though you can utilize the lengthy chain as an arm bracelet or in various other ways), this piece is a dramatic and visible reminder of what having a heart looks like. Plus sharing the message of social responsibility by helping to promote the learning of skills to empower and employ our intercontinental neighbors, sounds like true love to us!
