All Earth Conscious Optics (ECO) glasses are made using recycled metal and plastic, validated by a third-party certification. The collection features an array of opthalmic styles and sun shades – from chic daytime frames to aviators and oversized glamorous designs. The only difference between these fashionable wares and your old sunnies? These frames are made out of recycled metal and plastic, conserving natural resources and preventing current materials from being sent to landfill.
The vision for ECO came from Founder and CEO, Alessandro Lanaro’s, desire to create a necessary product in a responsible and sustainable manner. “More than 120 million Americans use corrective eyewear and approximately 90 million wear sunglasses. This is a huge opportunity to make a difference.”
Aside from being sourced responsibly, each pair comes with a mail-in kit for recycling old frames (the company then sends the frames to organizations around the world to distribute to people in need). And if that wasn’t enough, ECO plants a tree for every frame sold! In partnership with Trees for the Future, they work to restore trees in degraded lands and improve rural livelihoods via environmentally sustainable projects.
