The Hyde Life
Yoga gear looking a little shabby these days? Hiding in the back of class because you’re at the point of wearing your stretched out “GO COUGS!” tee from your college? Like all seasonal wardrobes, those stretchy, comfy threads reserved specially for your Down Dogs and Sun Salutes deserve an update too.
Good thing Hyde Yoga’s line of ultra-soft, ultra lightweight yoga clothing is not only functional and stylish, but also planet friendly and affordable. This small New York-based company combines high quality organic cotton from Turkey, adds a touch of spandex for a little stretch, and then brightens the whole package with gentle soy-based inks to create some of the softest pants and tops in the most brilliant colors you’ve ever seen on the mat.
Founder and head designer Anne-Kerr Kennedy doesn’t hope for yoga world domination with Hyde: “We aren’t trying to be huge. We just need to do nice things for the world.” Talk about living your philosophy: Kennedy is currently teaming up with yoga teachers around the globe to have them design clothing that Hyde will then sell, with 10 percent of each sale going to the charity of the teacher’s choice.
