Do or Dye

egg-dye

The time old tradition of dying eggs is a fun family activity, but make sure to use natural coloring. Many store bought dye packs contain unnecessary (and often harmful) ingredients like silicon dioxide, red dye #2, and coal tar – a known carcinogen, not to mention the fact that it’s petroleum-derived.

If you’re in the mood for a DIY project, you can dye naturally using vegetables and spices found at your local market – watch this video for step by step instructions. If you’d prefer to pick up a ready-to-go pack, then Nova Natural Toys and Crafts has just the kit for you. For $5.90 the plant-based kit lets you create beautiful yellow, orange, lavender, red and green eggs the natural way (there’s enough dye to color up to 6 eggs in each of the 5 colors).

The “Do or Dye” question is easy – “dye” the natural way.
