Fill ‘Er Up
We’re pretty sure the residents of San Diego don’t need another reason to enjoy a cocktail or two in their city’s many fine drinking establishments. But if so, here’s at least a stylish one: the vase above — in Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year, no less — was repurposed from a bottle of Tanqueray No. 10 by Bottlehood, a company that creates glassware from used wine and liquor bottles from local San Diego restaurants and bars. Crafted by the “cold method,” which produces a lower carbon footprint than a toxin-producing “hot-working” process, this smart, reclaimed piece ($24) retains that stately shape of the now-classic gin container, while taking on a new purpose (and a new favorite drink) of its own. Give flowers their fill with a fresh one from store.bottlehood.com.
