Consciously Curated, Food & Drink, Kitchen, Kitchen Confidential:
Pouring It On
We’re feeling a little thirsty for this new Kickstarter idea from sustainable company Soma: a glass carafe that contains the first compostable water filter. Like conventional filters, Soma’s design removes chlorine, heavy metals, and other contaminants from tap water, but with a twist — the sleek, minimal carafe looks great, so you don’t have to hide it in the fridge during your next dinner party. The filters themselves are made of a food-based PLA composite, carbon granules from Malaysian coconut shells, and a special layer of vegan silk. And the kicker? They’re sent directly to your door every two months via subscription, so you can (finally) remember to change your filter on time. Help bring it to the table via Kickstarter, where pledges to get the carafe and a six-month filter subscription currently start at $50.
