Discarded… Recovered… Repurposed

Designer duo Carlos Salgado and Bart Bettencourt are creating contemporary furniture from their Brooklyn backyard, literally. They’ve developed a system where they salvage the wood scraps that would otherwise be destined for the dump, and construct visually-appealing composite pieces like tables, chairs and cubes - dubbed Scrapile. Though they set out to make a positive environmental impact, you’d never guess it just by looking at their furnishings. Scrapile is a fusion of innovative thinking and expert design. And they’re definitely turning a pile of scraps into a whole lot more.
