Read It or Eat It
Books that are beautiful, educational, eco-friendly… chewable? Squishy Press has created just such tomes, perfect for introducing babies to reading.
If you’ve spent anytime around infants, you know that it’s only a matter of time before they’ve locked their adorable, albeit slobbery, lips around every object in site. It’s one of the ways they take in the world. Only problem? There are plenty of seemingly “baby-friendly” toys and items that can be toxic when consumed, or even tasted (pthalates, BPA, etc.). That’s why we were so pleased to find Squishy Press, creators of baby books made with non-toxic and environmentally-conscious papers, inks, and printing processes.
Squishy Press books don’t use laminates, foils, or potentially harmful glues. The inks are soy and vegetable-based, and the books are printed in Illinois using wind power. It’s this kind of manufacturing info that makes a mom feel a whole lot better when seeing a little one gnaw on the corner of Opposites or Silly Faces ($11.95 each), the first two books released by the publishing company.
