eBay’s First Vintage Flash Sale!
This week marked the debut of eBay Fashion Vault’s first-ever Vintage Designer Event. On Monday, December 6th through Wednesday, December 8th, the 48-hour sale featured women’s vintage clothing and accessories from designers like Gianni Versace, Courreges, Azzedine Alaia, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta and more.
This Monday, our own Zem Joaquin, was on-site with eBay Fashion’s Karen Bard, members of eBay’s Green Team, celebrity stylists, and other Bay Area fashion devotees to celebrate with industry veteran (and SF local) Ricky Serbin, curator of the coveted collection of vintage finds.
Zem Joaquin, founder of ecofabulous.com, with Gina Pell, founder of Splendora.com
Ricky showcased authentic, brand name vintage clothing and accessories from the 1960′s-90′s era, in sizes 0-10, from more than 15 amazing designers.
Big proponents of the message that “the greenest product is often one that already exists,” ecofabulous was able to share the eco street cred that stands behind purchasing vintage items*:
- Choosing a previously loved leather handbag saves as much energy as a flight from London to Paris.
- Choosing new-to-you leather shoes saves more energy than an average household uses in a day.
- Buying a pre-loved silk dress saves 95% of the CO2 needed to make a new one.
- Choosing a previously-owned leather clutch saves as much energy as not watching TV for 3 days straight.
- Buying pre-owned sunglasses saves 74% of the CO2 needed to make new ones.
- Choosing a pre-loved sweater saves the energy equivalent of 68 loads of laundry.
Shopping fabulously classic vintage items means high style with low impact. Keep an eye out for the next Vintage Designer Flash Sale!
