October is Fair Trade Month!

Amidst Halloween shopping and pink ribbon purchases, it’s important to remember one of this month’s major campaigns: Fair Trade. While our primary slant tends to be the environment, we feel equally strong about worker’s rights, fighting poverty, empowering women, and creating sustainable businesses (in all senses of the word). That’s why we’re pleased to shine a little light on Fair Trade USA, the only third-party certifier of fair trade products in the U.S., and our partner for this week’s giveaway.

By certifying and promoting fair trade products, Fair Trade USA is “enabling sustainable development and community empowerment by cultivating a more equitable global trade model that benefits farmers, workers, consumers, industry and the earth.” We’re happy to report that the first Fair Trade certified clothing line in the U.S. was recently featured on ecofabulous - remember those caddy-chic organic cotton polos from Tompkins Point Apparel?
