Talk Techie To Me:

Long Live the Mixtape!

contexture-nano-case

Call us nostalgic, but there was a certain romance to lovingly crafting a cassette tape of our favorite songs to pass along to our best friends, or high school boyfriends, that mp3s just can’t replace. We’d bring them back if we could, but we also know that those compact rectangles can be just as wasteful as burning CD upon CD. Besides, tape players definitely fall in the category of “so 90′s,” along with neon scrunchies and slap bracelets.

The creative minds behind the Contexture nano case, however, have found a new use for castaway cassettes from yesteryear. Why dump them in a trash pile when you can use them to house your miniature iPod, recycling and getting a taste of retro design in the process? The Nano cases have been stripped of their stringy innards, hollowed out and made to fit a 4th generation Nano. The asking price is $45 CAD, since the clever Contexture team hails from our neighboring country to the north.

Whether slow jams or indie rock suits your taste, the case is a great way to return to the golden era of mixtapes without the annoyance of holding down the “Record” and “Play” buttons simultaneously. We’re calling this our “Mega-Awesome Recycling Mix.”
