Preview of 2010 Discarded to Divine Dresses

‘Restyle’ is a constant buzz-word around ecofabulous. Avid subscribers to the eBay affirmation that “the greenest product is often the one that already exists,” we also recognize that oldies can need a little revamping before they are relevant in today’s market. Suckers for talented designers that can take what already exists and make something truly new, we’re constantly amazed by what comes out of the annual Discarded to Divine event (coming up this Thursday the 29th!).

The annual Discarded to Divine event challenges young designers to ‘restyle’ unusable clothing donated to the St. Vincent De Paul Society and create one-of-a-kind fashion and exquisite home décor. All of the gorgeous garments will be auctioned off to benefit the St. Vincent De Paul Society whose services help people battling poverty, homelessness and domestic violence.

The cocktail reception & silent auctions will take place this Thursday April 29th at the Hall at St. Mary’s Cathedral. General reception starts at 6:00pm and the live auction and show begins at 8:00pm. The event often sells out, so make sure to purchase tickets in advance HERE.

After judging the designs early on and voting for our favorites to be a part of the fashion show, we can hardly wait for the festivities to begin! Here is a quick preview of some of our favorites. Hope to see you all there!
