For Foodies

Hardwood Helpers:
They’ll love looking at Olmay Home’s gorgeous handmade Woodenware cooking utensils as much as they’ll love using them (from $10.00).

Bloomin’ ‘Shrooms:
Let do-good gourmets easily grow up to a pound and a half (!) of oyster mushrooms with the Back to the Roots Mushroom Kit, which comes with recycled coffee grounds and mushroom seeds encased in a compostable box ($19.99).

Bubbling Over:
Renowned industrial designer Yves Béhar helped launch the countertop-worthy SodaStream Source, which lets you create your own soda at home (and save our landfills from a few plastic bottles) (from $129.95).
Here’s the Scoop:
Class up their condiment selection with Sir Kensington’s Gourmet Scooping Ketchup, an all-natural, vine-ripened option that will make their veggie burger rethink the red stuff ($7.00).

For Techies

Totally Cool (and Really Hot):
The Nest Thermostat is the smartest (and best looking) on the market: it cuts up to 20% of an energy bill by learning your schedule and preferences to automatically adjust your home’s heat and cooling systems ($249.00).
Power Play:
Keep your giftee charged up anytime (and anywhere) with the BoostTurbine2000 from Etón, a compact back-up battery with a hand turbine power generator ($60.00).
Keeping Tabs:
Die-cut from recycled wool felt, this durable, sleek Nau Pad Stash tablet case doubles as a stand for easy viewing ($75.00).
Listen Up:
Eschew those ubiquitous plastic white buds for wooden Bambud Bamboo Earbuds consciously handcrafted with pure, all-natural bamboo ($38.00).

For Athletes

Fair Ball:
Made under sweatshop-free conditions, this Fair Trade-certified, hand-stitched soccer ball enters the game using polyurethane material instead of standard-issue PVC ($60.00).
Hot Wheels:
Let the urban cyclist hit the streets in style with this sustainably produced Pop-Up Bicycle Basket, which can easily carry a purse, backpack, or shopping bag after a day of errand running ($75.00).
Easy Rider:
Help your favorite skateboard fan go old-school on a super.round.nose longboard that’s hand-shaped in Brooklyn from repurposed local premium hardwood scrap ($375.00).

For Pets

Go Fetch:
Keep your furry friend’s paw print smaller with a 100% biodegradable pet bed from Dog Gone Smart made with all-natural and organic materials (prices vary).
Ruff and Tough:
The recyclable and virtually puncture-proof Bionic Stuffer dog toy is engineered for extreme strength, so even the most aggressive chewers won’t rough up this holiday gift the very morning it’s opened ($19.99).
Chow Time:
Feed Fido right: try this Organic Pet Superfood Supplement from Bixbi, which uses natural ingredients to target what your pet needs, whether it’s help with digestion, immunity, joints, or skin and coat ($27.99 for a two-month supply).

Stocking Stuffers

Start with Stockings:
Obviously! Hang these Holiday Trail Stockings (made of hemp and organic cotton) by the chimney with care ($58.00).

Go to Great Lengths:
Her lookers will lap up 100% Pure Ultra Lengthening Fruit Mascara, a 100% vegetarian mascara that lengthens, separates, thickens, and glosses lashes using fruit and black tea pigments ($21.00).
Such a Giver:
Fill that stocking to the brim with the 2012 Holiday Gift Box from Environmental Working Group, a fundraiser and holiday present all in one containing new products picked using EWG’s always-helpful research (starting at $150.00).

Nail It:
Let her go green in every way with “Seething Jealousy” from Scotch Naturals, a safe and eco-friendly alternative to conventional solvent-based nail polish ($15.00).
Clean Up Your Act:
Made sans parabans, sulfates, heavy metals, and palm oil, this cold-processed soap is specifically formulated for a guy’s skin (and he’ll especially dig its made-for-a-man hardwood scent) ($8.95).

No Pouting Here:
Give her makeup bag a natural boost with 100% Pure Lip Gloss in a Sheer Pomegranate Wine color derived from fruit pigments ($13.00).

Good Vibrations:
A saucy present to give your grown-up loved one (or, ahem, yourself), the Jimmyjane Form 6 G3 vibrator is not only rechargeable, but it’s also made with 100% phthalate-free body safe materials ($175.00).

Present Perfect:
That’s a wrap! Make sure to keep your gifts green with a sustainable alternative to traditional wrapping, like VZWraps gift bags. Crafted from organic and traditional cotton, they’re endlessly reusable. Plus, you’ll never have to hunt for a bow — there’s one attached, and it’s wisely made from 100% recycled materials (from $3.25).

Thanks for the great eco gift ideas! I need a few of these to round out the big gifts I got my wife this year. She knows I work at DISH, so she has been bugging me for a way to take her favorite shows from room to room, or even out of the house all together. What she doesn’t know is that I already got her an iPad Mini and a DISH Sling Adapter. Once I connect the adapter to our DVR, she will be able to stream live TV, and DVR recordings to her iPad anywhere she goes. She might want a little more sound, and I know she will need some additional power, so I am thinking about getting those Bamboo Earbuds and that compact battery pack.
