Black & White
Cuteness (and conservation) alert: Starting September 10, the Chengdu Pambassador Program will be on the lookout for panda lovers who want to support panda conservation by becoming Chengdu “Pambassadors,” or panda ambassadors, through its PandaQuest competition.
Co-sponsored by Chengdu Panda Base and WildAid, an international environmental protection organization, PandaQuest is aiming to promote the conservation of giant pandas as well as Chengdu Panda Base’s goal of returning pandas to the wild. To do this, beginning on Monday, PandaQuest’s competition will launch on a Facebook page and then continue through to on-the-ground events around the globe. After successfully completing a variety of tasks to prove themselves Pambassador-worthy, three winners will receive a $20,000 stipend plus travel and accommodations for up to six months in order to visit zoos around the world that house pandas originally from Chengdu, China. Chengdu Pambassadors’ travels will start in Chengdu, then pass through Asia, Europe, the Americas, Australia, and then back to China. In each city, the Pambassadors will work with the zoos and help promote panda conservation.
