Solar Goes After Virgins
There has finally been some exciting news from our most essential star. Successful IPOs and island-sized installations have made solar a serious energy contender at long last. One of the sexier examples is the announcement that NRG Energy and Starwood Hotels & Resorts are partnering to expand solar power at select Starwood properties. NRG Energy will oversee the installation of the solar arrays at the various properties, beginning with the Westin St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This very bright project will help reduce local air emissions and the impact of shipping on the fragile Caribbean ecosystem by reducing the demand for imported diesel fuel. The customized solar arrays will be designed by NRG to seamlessly blend with each property’s design aesthetic. Don’t worry, the cells will leave plenty of rays for you to soak up too!
