Tour the 2012 ecofabulous livinghome

C6-rendering2-473x300

For the past four years ecofabulous has been partnering with exemplary pre-fab architects and builders to design the very eco and very fabulous Dwell on Design showhouse. This year ecofabulous teamed up with leading pre-fab creator livinghomes to assemble a LEED platinum, Cradle to Cradle inspired, 1232 sq ft C6 home in the LA Convention Center. I enlisted the help of my oft design partner, Kimberly Rider to create a seriously show-worthy abode. Visitors always expect a recap so they can find all of the awe-inspiring elements (we know that you either lose those hand-outs or need a refresher)… and those who couldn’t make it at all need to know what we chose where…and why.

To enjoy the tour, click on the room you desire and then click on any blue dot to see a close up of each item, why it’s eco, why it’s fabulous and where to get it. If something you love isn’t called out, do not hesitate to email info@ecofabulous.com for additional information.

We’d like to thank all of our sponsors. And give a hearty shout out to O Organics for keeping the design team and steady stream of visitors well-fed!

The style is great and many have been made from sustainable resources but transportation costs in terms of CO2 generated from shipping fom far away countries is not a green concept. Furnishings made from sustainable resources and made within the USA are more environmentally friendly, don’t you agree?

I would love to see examples specifically showcasing American-made products that are environmentally sound buys. Could that be a futre project? I am teaching students who will one day be purchasing their own homes and they are very interested in “green homes”. Have you ever done anything in New England that we could tour?
