Talk Techie To Me:
Launching “Talk Techie To Me” in Partnership with Intel
In today’s culture it’s rare to find us without a device on hand. Be it a laptop, tablet or mobile device – we are wired women. The access to information is empowering, makes our lives that much more efficient, and enables us to keep in touch with friends and family at a rate our parents couldn’t have dreamed of. But what does this mean for sustainability, our impact on the planet and the health of those around us? As evidenced by the response to some of our coverage from this year’s Consumer Electronic Show, we know that you (our readers) want to know more.
We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new vertical on ecofabulous in partnership with Intel. Dedicated to the intersection of technology and sustainability, “Talk Techie To Me” will cover everything from eco-friendly products and services, to smart ways to charge up and responsible ways to dispose of electronics. We’ll also be on the hunt for new, innovative ways that technology is working to help clean up the planet and inform our decisions, and rest assured we’ll keep you (and you’re gadgets) looking stylish while we’re at it.
So why Intel? We’re glad you asked. Aside from the variety of eco-initiatives that are at the heart of the company’s philosophy, we couldn’t be more excited about the launch of their recent Tech Wonders program and Progress Thru Processors application. By downloading a simple app to your computer, you’ll be donating your unused processing power to research projects dedicated to better understanding climate change. Ever heard of people with solar panels sending extra power “back to the grid?” The Progress Thru Processors app works very similarly – it’s essentially volunteer grid computing. The best part? Once it’s installed, you’re done! Every once in a while you can check back in on the projects and see the power you’ve generated, but you’ll be helping out without lifting a finger, changing your everyday behaviors or spending a dime.
This idea is at the heart of “Talk Techie To Me.” We know you’ve got extremely busy lives as well as a true desire to be a part of positive change and lessen your impact on the planet and future generations. We can’t wait to share more!
