We’re reporting from Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany where we’re off to visit Weleda Naturals Biodynamic Gardens (all 135 acres of them) to learn how Weleda products are grown right from the earth - not a lab. We’ll be harvesting calendula, one of the main ingredients in Weleda’s Calendula Baby Care products, as well as learning about biodynamic gardening, and treating farms as complete, self-sustaining organisms. Love Life. Live Clean.
Date: July 13, 2010 | Category: Beauty, Body Care, Skin Care

Life can be messy - no one knows this more than moms. But what if the products you use to clean delicate skin with are even dirtier than the dirt you’re trying to scrub off? Conventional soaps and hand sanitizers contain toxic chemicals that can actually do more harm than good. So when looking to clean and care for your body, look no further than longtime ecofab fave EO (which stands for essential oils - like the ones used in their products, steam distilled directly from flowers, leaves, bark and wood). Case Matters

While mainstream retailers can often be one of the harder places to spend consciously, American retailer, J.Crew, has recently given us a new shopping outlet. Known for it’s well-tailored, slightly preppy aesthetic, this season J.Crew has collaborated with the sophisticated WANT Les Essentials De La Vie accessories to produce an exclusive line of Ivy League-looking laptop cases and travel bags made from organic cotton and sustainably produced leather (read: vegetable tanned, rather than dyed with toxic chromium). For those of you that missed us at Dwell on Design, (and for those of you still wanting more!) here’s the trailer that was playing at the event. This video shows the beginnings of the MODERN LIVING Showhouse presented by Electrolux, a 400 sq. ft. prefab house built by Reclaimed Space in Austin, TX.

The Winning Card
Date: July 6, 2010 | Category: Art, Cards & Stationary, Lifestyle

There are winners and there are champions. Company name aside, Brooklyn-based enormouschampion is a clear leader in the cool-cards-plus-great-tea-towels-plus-more-fun-stuff category (and all while being incredibly sustainable, mind you). From our first sighting of the cetacean study limited edition print to our subsequent swooning over the entire line of greeting cards (check out babylove, a mis-tape, and post script), we knew we’d stumbled on something special.
