Hemp is a familiar fiber in the world of eco-couture, but Heather Heron’s handbag collection begs you to banish memories of shapeless sacks and roughly woven beatnik textiles. Heron’s signature line of totes and clutches are fashioned from organic European hemp that give her accessories a look of polished simplicity. To the touch, the pieces are smooth, but with an earthy feel that serves as a tactile reminder of the materials’ sustainable origins.
By adding accents like silk charmeuse lining and fine leather trim (vegetable dyed, naturally), it’s clear that Heron values luxury as much as ethics. And make no mistake, she believes the two can and must coexist. Her creations are locally crafted in Los Angeles, and she oversees the process like a loving and undeniably stylish curator.
Our favorites are the versatile, oversized Aspen tote, compact and kittenish Magnolia clutch, and crescent-shaped Cypress bag—different shades of sophistication, whatever your mood may be.

I am loving the clutch, that is the most perfect combination between polished glamour and eco fashion. I have added your link to the Organic Spa Magazine blog-http://blog.organicspamagazine.com

I love the look of this line. I’m a little concerned with the perception of incorporating leather and python skin though. I consider myself a responsible consumer and still purchase leather goods. Can you elaborate how using animal products is still considered “eco” friendly? I think it can co-exist but some people may look at it as contradictory. Thanks!
