Bamboo Does Compute

Our friends at earth2tech have the scoop on a new Dell eco-pc prototype, unveiled at last week’s Brainstorm Green conference.

CEO Michael Dell announced that the computer is 81 % smaller than a standard desktop, uses 70 % less power and utilizes renewable materials like bamboo and recycled plastic. He said the product is set to come out later this
year at a price ranging between $500 and $700.

In addition to the environmental benefits, we love the look of the bamboo case. What a welcome upgrade to the cold, drab look of today’s passé offerings.

We’ve been teased by eco-prototypes before (Nokia, white courtesy telephone, please) - let’s hope Dell really brings this eco-mini to market!
