Design Happening 2007
Date: September 20, 2007 | Category: Events, Lifestyle
Hey, if Mayor Bloomberg is joining the party and proclaiming it New York’s official “design week,” who are we to argue. Design Happening, put on by House & Garden, is going to be a melange of stellar events featuring icons and innovators of the design world - running October 15-21. It will incorporate all that New York City’s unique architecture, cuisine and entertainment has to offer. Though there are too many awe-inspiring experiences to list, I am of course focusing on the eco-events. For all you fashionistas The FutureFashion Show on Wednesday at ABC Carpet & Home is not-to-be missed. Come see what this city, known for its chic style, will create with eco-textiles including lyocell and tilapia “sea leathers,” as well as fibers derived from corn and pineapple. On Thursday, join environmentalist Bill McKibben (among others) at The Future Face of New York Panel Discussion to explore strategies about how the city’s projected population growth can be more sustainable. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, make your way back to ABC for Shop With Experts: Eco-Chic Shopping. I will be among the green guides to the good life, helping shoppers identify eco-friendly furniture. Whether you are an all-around design aficionado or simply interested in the environmental progressions that are reconceptualizing the way we create and innovate, Design Happenings will be an amazing tool to get your finger on New York’s pulse (with over 40 ticketed events).
