Cream of the Crop

Mornin' sunshine. Time to start the day, aka the coffee pot. Now there's a new reason to rise - the nation's largest organic farmer-owned cooperative, Organic Valley, has expanded their shelf offerings from the simple, yet classic, half-and-half, to now include certified organic French Vanilla and Hazelnut creamers (and they are dee-lish!). The creamer is a perfect balance of organic cream and whole milk (meaning they're produced without the use of antibiotics, synthetic hormones or pesticides). Then the flavor comes from organic hazelnut and organic, fair trade vanilla, sweetened with only fair trade, unrefined sugar. With the organic coffe industry boasting an average annual growth rate of 21% over the last five years (compared to the 1% annual growth rate of the conventional coffee industry), it's only natural that consumers are demanding organic creamers to go with their organic coffee. Organic Valley creamers ($2.99, 16 oz.) are free of artificial colors and flavors, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. Can't do dairy? Organic Valley offers a soy version as well (in fact, it's the only certified organic soy creamer on the market that we're aware of!). Choose from Original or Vanilla, produced from organic soybeans grown in the Midwest, and continue your lactose-free morning routine in sustainable sweetness. *Photo credit: top by Michelle Aquila, rest from OrganicValley.coop
