Pair of Green Aces

Portland, OR, recently named the ‘Greenest City in America’ by Popular Science Magazine, has a lot to offer eco-enthusiasts. The Ace Hotel, housed in a historic building on the edge of Portland’s super hip Pearl district, is an amazing find. Each room features vintage furniture and fixtures, even the bed boards are made from recycled army ponchos. After a peaceful nights sleep, roll down to Stumptown Coffee Roasters, housed in the lobby, which sells organic, fair trade brews all made-to-order. Jorg & Olif bikes are available for rent, so you can tour the eco-city appropriately. The hotel’s award-winning restaurant, Clyde Common, serves only local, organic, seasonal dishes. What’s more? The Ace Hotel is not just eco-friendly, it’s wallet friendly. Rooms start at just $95/night. They are even pet friendly, so you can bring your endangered pal along, too.

That’s really awesome. My fiance and I are looking at ways to “green” our honeymoon and that seems like a great option. We also found a treehouse that we could rent. You can check it out on our blog.

I am proud to live in the Greenest City in America, even if it means I have no good reason to stay in the Ace Hotel. Not so sure about bringing an “endangered pal,” though. Not many hotels allow me to bring my spotted owl for overnight stays.
