Tennessee Rocks Out Eco-Style

Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Pearl Jam, Rilo Kiley, Iron and Wine… the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival running June 12-15 in Manchester, TN, will host 80,000 partygoers to a 24/7 buffet of indie folk, world, hip hop, jazz, Americana, bluegrass, country, gospel, reggae, electronica and more. But what makes Bonnaroo so unique isn’t just its smorgasbord of music genres: it’s their green gusto that seems to be exponentially expanding each year…

Clean energy initiatives, responsible product consumption, superior
waste management, local sourcing and education programs are all part of
their baked-in plan. Planet
Roo village is back by popular demand, an area where speakers address
environmental issues amongst a myriad of planet-friendly concessions.
The festival also uses non-VOC paints and is experimenting with
electric golf carts in their fleet of production vehicles. Last year, they turned over 250 tons of waste into park benches and construction materials for future events.
These are merely a couple of the manifold actions Bonnaroo will
showcase at their carbon neutral event. You can read up on further eco-endeavors on their website… and learn how attendees are
being encouraged to enhance the effort. Rock on!
