Finally, Fab Fast Food!

After my recent Cafe Gratitude experience, I was almost reluctant to return to the opposite end of the food chain. But being that I am the ONLY burger fan in the ecofab crew and I happened to be spending the weekend in Portland, Oregon, I took on the tasty assignment of sampling the eats at Burgerville.

Far from the typical carnivorous fare that supersizes our carbon footprint and clogs our arteries, Burgerville is a sustainable chain of high quality fast-food joints. With locations in Washington and Oregon, they offer a simple menu of 100% organic beef burgers, French fries cooked in trans-fat-free canola oil along with salads and vegetarian options. I tried their Pepper Bacon Cheeseburger and a Chocolate Monkey Smoothie, and I was feeling total the love forthe planet. Best, Omar.

A proud supporter of sustainable business, Burgerville’s meat is hormone-free and comes from local organic ranches. They serve up their cuisine on recycled and biodegradable materials. They even re-use
cooking oil for biofuel. Dedicated to fair trade practices, they support local green markets and donate to charities in the communities where they do business. I can’t wait to get my buns back over there for another yummy meal. Best, Omar!
