B.Y.O. Bubbly

You may not have considered yourself the D.I.Y. type - you don’t knit, sew, or collage, and you certainly haven’t ever tried to brew your own beer. But with the sodastream (a fantastic home carbonation system), you’ll be crafting your own sparkling water in no time!
From production, to bottling, to transportation (just think of the imported sparkling waters that fly hundreds of miles to reach us!), making your own carbonated beverage has huge environmental impacts. The average American consumes roughly 600 bottles of soda and sparkling water each year - just think of the bottles and cans you’d save!
The basic sodastream model starts at $90, with the sleek Penguin model priced at $200. Each comes with two carbonators that make about 60 to 130 liters (the equivalent to 180 or 330 cans of fizzy goodness), and when you run out, simply send the carbonator back to the company for a refill. Click here to watch the demo video - the entire process takes about 3 seconds and then voila! Fresh bubbly at your disposal. We’ll toast to that!

This seemed like such a great idea, I ran out and got one. The jury is still out, as you are supposed to push and release the button until you hear a loud buzz. I never heard a buzz, but felt like I was getting carpal tunnel with all the button pushing. Still not enough bubbles for me…

Hi Cindy! Make sure that the carbonator in the back is twisted on tightly - I don’t always hear a loud buzz but we’ve had our’s in the office for a few months now and it works great. You can contact SodaStream at 1.800.763.2258 if you’re still having problems.

I have been a sodastream user for a couple of years now and it took a couple of trys to get it right but after that its easy. You can add lemon, lime or other fruit flavors or buy from Sodastream. Great system.

Love love love my seltzer maker - no more lugging home liters of poland springs now that I’ve got my iSi - the old school seltzer maker straight out of an episode of Mad Men. I must say though, if you have many seltzer drinkers in your house you should opt for the soda stream, it’s quicker to refill because chargers last for multiple uses whereas the iSi is one and done. But the Nitrogen cartridges are refillable….

Thanks for the nice information on the SodaStream. These are awesome machines I bought myself the SodaStream Penguin soda maker. I absolutely love this machine.
I shopped around until I came across a site that had a 10% off deal if you bought a kit. Good deal I think.
Here’s the site if any of you are interested:
