Here’s Some Sage Advice

If you’ve never been to or even heard of - as I hadn’t - Cornerstone Place, take heed! This is not your average spot - at once evident by a twisting white picket fence that resembles a roller coaster. You will be, if not impressed, at least intrigued by the series of walk-through gardens that showcase innovative designs (some might say avant garde) from the world’s finest landscape architects and designers, the first gallery-style garden exhibit in the United States.
And you are sure to unearth some awesome treasures at one of the shops; our favorite was Artefact Design and Salvage with their gorgeous (albeit pricey) salvagables. Plus, the wine tasting is stellar (I recommend the port from Roshambo).
But the shining star at Cornerstone is the recently opened Sage Fine Food & Provisions, a little gourmet cafe and market that bustles with eco-friendly goodness. Sit down or pick-up (for stellar picnic fare); the artisanal menu features the finest in local, organic and sustainable ingredients - the proof is in the farm fresh taste. All served with compostable tableware. The staff is young and enthusiastic and a stroll through the store offers tons of green gifts, many of which we’ve written about before.
All in all, Cornerstone Place is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon - and a welcome break from the average wine country destination. Ciao for now, Andrea.

I would have to completely agree with you! I journeyed there for the first time earlier this summer. The gardens where fabulous, I did not get to try the roshambo port but I loved the justice syrah…..i bought a case! Grange Sonoma also had some great wines. Zipper is a store not to be missed as well. I will certainly be sure to stop by Sage next time I am there.
