Natural Beauty, Hold the Parabens

The difference between The Body Deli and less eco-conscious beauty lines is the same as the divide between organic cuisine and fast food. The former makes you feel whole and satiated, the latter, sluggish and ill-fed.

For David Parker and Margaret Skarin, founders of Palm Desert-based line The Body Deli, creating a line of natural, bio-active skincare products was akin to taking on the role of “Cosmetic Chef(s).” Check out the video below for more info on how they source ingredients from local farms to mix deliciously luxurious creations such as their Blueberry Fusion Scrub. Extra-fine sloughing particles remove layers of dead skin ever so gently, and it only takes a dime-sized portion to do the job.

We’re also enamored of their whipped Body Soufflés, which smell good enough to eat (though you shouldn’t) and seal in a thick layer of moisture with the help of organic aloe vera juice, safflower and avocado oils, among other raw and botanical infusions. Their website lists and defines many of these complexion-enhancing, sumptuously-scented ingredients, so you know for exactly what purpose cacao or coconut extracts are being used.
