No More Dirty Little Secrets
Date: March 22, 2007 | Category: Beauty
I have steered clear of swiffers and similar quick floor cleaners because they are such waste machines, but I get the conveniece lure. Don’t be fooled - those innocent looking wipes that pile up after a wipe-isode are actually petroleum-based landfill cloggers. Enough sheets get tossed each year to fill nine thousand big rigs and those toxic little sheets won’t get trucked to some magical place in the sky. Method has put an end to this madness by offering a cleaner option. Like all Method products, the Omop is a high design, low impact alternative to the big brands. There are two floor-specific mop kits that come complete with a non-toxic cleaner in a cologne-bottle-looking dispenser, a washable microfiber mop pad and compostable sweeping cloths. If you live in San Francisco, stop by Spring (an awesome healthy home shop) - they have lined their already well-stocked walls with all of the Method necessities you will need to get ready for truly clean, spring cleaning. Or you can buy online.

I know Target may not seem the most eco place to shop, but most of them carry the Method products!

What a great tip. I didn’t know my swifter was a problem…just didn’t think about it. Gaining awareness is 1/2 the battle…Changing behavior needs to follow. Thanks. TB

i have a Swiffer but instead of the disposable wipes, i use an old dishtowel. works just as well (if not better!) and then throw it in the washing machine.
