With a passion for luxury, Vegan Queen clutched our hankering for cruelty-free, eco-friendly bags right from the start. Last year we dubbed the mini bowler “The Eco It Bag.” Now the VQ is back with a tote that could steal the title.
The dramatic No. 5 Diamond Bag is made from soft vegetal leather (devoid of the PVC often found in faux leathers). Embossed with the signature VQ monogram, this lovely hand-held is lined in organic cotton terry and finished with antiqued brass hardware. All the fashionistas on Fifth Avenue will be green with envy when they see you carrying the bag recently displayed in Henri Bendel’s window. Even the dust bag is made from 100% organic cotton for the ultimate eco-jet setter.
Getting Sacked by Noon
Date: April 20, 2009 | Category: Bags, Fashion, Men, Women

Let your fashion statement shine a little (sun) light on the greater issue at hand – our society’s dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
Noon Solar provides portable power when you are on the go. On the outside of each bag is a paper thin solar panel that can supply power for your cell phone or iPod via a tiny battery pack inside the bag. In 6-8 hours the battery is fully charged and can store the energy for a few days.
With simply chic styles like the Cortland and Augusta, all of the bags are made from completely biodegradable materials – naturally tanned and vegetable dyed leathers are then lined with sustainably harvested and naturally dyed hemp and cotton. Actually, the fabrics are personally hand dyed by founders Jane Palmer and Marianne Fairbanks so no two bags are exactly the same.
At the end of the bag’s life, the solar panels and hardware can be removed for recycling or reuse and the rest of the materials can be safely returned to the earth.
If someone comments what a cool bag you have, you can respond that it is actually pretty hot.

Off to Market
Date: April 1, 2009 | Category: Accessories, Bags, Fashion, Stores & Resources, Women

In lieu of the farmer’s market today, zip on over to the Facebook Marketplace and do a little online shopping to support your favorite charity.
The new Facebook Marketplace lets you sell anything and donate the money to a charity of your choice. To kick off this new application, Facebook is launching an initiative called “Celebrities Selling for a Cause.”
Our own Zem Joaquin is selling a green ecoist cocktail purse made from misprinted luna bar wrappers to benefit Healthy Child, Healthy World. This is a very limited edition bag so bid on it now and join ecofabulous in supporting Healthy Child, Healthy World to inspire parents to protect young children from harmful chemicals.
