For Your Baby Mama

Stretch marks, morning sickness, back pain and all, let us not forget who brought us into this world (not like mom would ever let you!). It’s Coming Up Primrose

When we first walked into Los Angeles salon Primrose Organics, the sweet aroma of botanicals immediately put us at ease, as did the sunny demeanor of its co-owners, Felicia Howe and Melissa Tornay.

Los Angeles is rife with glitzy hair salons, most of which tend toward a cold aesthetic and factory-like treatment of clients. Not so at Primrose, where a light-filled interior decorated with vintage vanities, painted with VOC-free paint, and stylists’ inscrutable attention to your - yes, your - needs make for a warm ambiance. Change is at Hand

The concept of “disposable” items is one that we try to regularly offer alternatives to here at ecofabulous. As we all know very well by now, there is no “away” and the fact that as consumers, we continue to offer a demand for one-time use goods, is something that we need to take responsibility for - change the demand (give them no demand!) and the market will shift accordingly. That’s why we were so excited to meet with the founders of PeopleTowels at this year’s Opportunity Green conference, to get a first glance at the new stylish, reusable towels. (more…)

Style & Substance: “Gifts Giving Back” Event

‘Tis the season for giving in many forms - gifts, thanks, and assistance to the less fortunate whenever possible. It’s also the season for champagne soirees as displayed at last week’s “Gifts Giving Back” event to benefit Toys for Tots in Los Angeles, put on by our friends at Coco Eco Magazine, Love Heals jewelry, Fred Segal Santa Monica, and Greenbees, among other ethical vendors.

The spirit of glitter and glam - inspired in part by celebrity chair Rachael Leigh Cook (pictured above with Rachel Avalon, winner of the Project Green Model Search) and the participation of ecofabulous-favorite, Linda Loudermilk - was alive and well. Many a stylish green shopper showed up with a donation for Toys for Tots, and took the opportunity to peruse some of Fred Segal’s many green gift options. While artists from Tarte Cosmetics gave mini makeovers and organic burgers from O! circulated the crowd, guests learned more about co-chair Love Heals’ ambitious, charitable mission. (more…)
